    Help! Is Tranny dead?

Car just stopped going. 100 yards from home. I'm told there was no
noise, it just felt like the car went into neutral. Sitting in the
driveway now. Starts fine, Shifting through the gears, I dont feel
anything "engageing", In all gears the car will roll back down the
driveway like its in neutral. It will go back into park and hold the
car there. (I did put blocks behind it just in case)

89 plymouth sundance sucks but we need the transportation.

I guess I'll get it towed to a local shop and get a price. I wouldnt
want to put more than $200 dollars into it.

Is there anything I can check or that I should watch out for at the
tranny shop? Never had tranny trouble....

    Thanks for any info.

Sounds like the transmission to me. Chrysler's are pretty notorious for
    tranny problems, I have a '92 Plymouth Grand Voyager that's on it's 5th now.
Sorry about your luck, if you're like me, you'll never buy another Chrysler
    product...

Is the Chrysler group alive or dead? Visit them!
They may even be able to steer you to the nearest wrecker for a
replacement - or could tell you if all the trannies on these are shot!

    Steve,

First, I would check the shift linkage/cable to see if it is moving
the lever on the transmission when you move the shifter. Make sure you
have the parking brake on when you play around with this and the
engine is running!! Then I would check the fluid level (per owners
manual instructions). If these are both ok, then the pump in the
tranmision may have failed. With no hydraulic pressure, the
transmisison can not go into gear. Also see if the fluid is burnt in
odor or color. Compare to new fluid. I hope it is something simple
    like this.
