help! soft top really, really hard to put up

I know this sounds like I'm an weak idiot, and maybe I am, but I'm having
the hardest time simply putting up the soft top. I have a used Jeep
Rubicon, I've had the soft top on for about 1 month, and I still need
someone to push the frame from the back while I struggle to get the hooks
into the front. It's impossible for one, non-muscleman person to do it. Is
there a good way to stretch the top out a bit? I'm really frustrated with
the friggin thing. I'm not a contestant in the ultimate strongman, but it
should be something an average person can do. Any useful suggestions
other than to start working out

I'm not sure how you are handling the rest of the soft top, but I usually
put the hooks in up front first (don't latch them down yet, just put the
hooks in the hole), then attach the soft top to the rear corners second. I
don't latch down the hooks until everything else is attached (including
windows). This is much easier for non-musclemen like us to handle.

    Hope this helps,

    Kevin

Something i know that helps is to make sure you do it while the softop is
warm, i always try to get mine up before it cools off too much at night, the
warmer it is the softer and more flexible it is.

    hooks

like Kevins says, hook the front hooks first, dont latch them but -then-
make sure your frame is in the right position too. Sometimes on my Rubi,
the bars get out of alignment causing exactly what you are mentioning.
make sure the corners of the top are aligned on the back bar correctly. The
top is a b#$itch to get right the first time but everytime you do it, you
will shave 10 mins off your time. Soon you will have that top up n' zipped
    in just over 5 mins.

I know this post is old, but what do you mean by the bars getting out of
    alignment?
Do you mean like where the one bar sits on the other bar?
Even when I have the back corners undone, I still have issues tryin to
    get the
damn hooks hooked OR unhooked. It must be entertaining for the
    neighbors to watch me out
there soaked, cursing tryin to get the darn thing up :P Having someone
    push on
the back doesn't do much .. I usually have to have someone lean on the
    side bars
really hard. I have trouble getting the hooks out too when I take it
    down grr.
Im not a puss, but not goin out for any strongwoman competitions either :P
