Help Installing Soundgate Adapter in 2003 Accord EX

I have the Soundgate SNHOND3 adapter to install in my 2003 Accord EX 4cyl.

But I need help installing it. What and how do I remove to get at the Radio.
For example do I need to remove the radio, or can I do it all by removing
the storage space below the radio.

Also once I install the aux. adapter, will the built in CD changer no longer
    work?

Sure wish I had a Honda body manual.

    Thanks, David

    David-

I have one of these installed in my 2003 Accord. A buddy who used to
install car stereos helped me and it took maybe 45 minutes. You do not
need to remove the radio, but you will need to pull out the lower
fascia, shifter trim fascia, coin holder, and the storage bin to get to
the input on the back of the exisiting stereo. We sticky-taped the unit
on the inside of the right side of the storage bin wall (the right
seat's left wall of the center console) and it fit perfectly. I wanted
to run the mini-jack to dual RCA cable back to the storage bin between
the seats, so we also had to pull the entire center consle trim to run
the line into the bottom of the storage bin, where I hook up my iPod
when I want to use the aux input. That way, I can also use the power
outlet in the center storage bin too.

You will still be able to use the built-in 6 disc changer after putting
in the SNHOND3 adapter, and the CD/AUX button will toggle between
    inputs.

I found the instructions for installing a factory cassette or MP3
player from www.handaaccessories.com to be helpful also.

    Have fun!

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for sharing your experience with the SNHOND3 install.

I've read a few posts out on the web by people complaining of
"humming" problems when the engine is on. Have you had these problems?

From what I understand, grouding a part of the RCA connectors to the
head unit solves this issue. By no means am I a professional
installer, but I am alwaya cautious when it comes to a car's
    electrical system.

    Thanks!

    Mark-

Now that I think about, I HAVE noticed a very slight hum when listening
    to the AUX input.

It's not so loud that it bugs me, but now that I know what's probably
causing it, I may be able to fix it.

Overall, I'm very happy with it!

    Steve -

Below is a copy of a forum post I made on www.ipodlounge.com

In it, I gave a couple of links to information that may help in
    installing the SNHOND3.

I also reference a page with a discussion about the noise. Maybe it
    will help you...

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a few links for you:

You can buy an interface unit for the stock 2003 Accord
    head unit at:

    http://www.logjamelectronics.com/sounsnhond3.html

This Honda parts company has PDF files of all installation
instructions. This file shows the install of a CD-Changer
into the 2003 Accord. You can use this as reference to
pull out the storage compartment below the stock head unit:

    http://www.handa-accessories.com/ac...TRNKCHANGER.pdf

I haven't installed this thing yet, so I can't give you anything more
than the above. However, through searching the web, people have been
saying that they are getting some humming noise when the engine is on.
This is usually because of a a bad ground. Check this link for more
    details:

    Hope this information helps!

I have teh SNHOND3 installed in my 03 accord. I do have a
significant amount of hum that associates with the engine rpm. When I
put in my XM radio it was really loud. I searched on this board and
found the answer--it is a ground loop isolator (radio shack for $15).

    http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CT LG%5F007%5F002%5F004%5F000&product%5Fid=270%2D054

I installed both the aux input and the ground loop isolator behind the
center compartment and brought the 3.5mm jack in through the hole of
the center console comparement (behind the door). That way I can use
my archos jukebox or xm radio.
