HELP!!! Headlights still on even with ignition off
Recently I found a problem with my car(97 Camry). As long as the signal level is placed in a position other than "OFF" ("Low Beam" or "High Beam"), the headlight is still on, even without the key in the ignition keyhole(switch). Would you please tell what's wrong and how to fix it? Thank you!

Get out phone book. Look up Toyota dealers. Phone Toyota dealer. Make
appointment. Take car to appointment.

Lights only go off when door is opened, and ignition is off. This may
suggest that your drivers door light switch is faulty and may neeed to be
replaced.

It's not broken.
The lights are supposed to work when the switch is moved from the
"off" position - even with the key removed. (For example, to use the
pakring lamps when the car is parked in a dark area with the key
removed.)
The "automatic off" feature works like this:
Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position - just short of starting
the car, so the warning lights on the dash display come on.
Then turn on the headlights.
Now turn off the ignition key -- the headlights will remain on.
Now open the driver's door.
The headlights should go off -- (unless there's a problem with the
switch in the door jamb that turns on the dome light.)

ARE you KIDDING? Hahhahaha. That's funny. You're sitting there
..... ignition key OFF ... you turn the headlight switch to the
Headlights ON position and ... they actually turn ON! What did you
think they were supposed to do?
Ok ... so there are a couple of cars that turn off the headlights
automatically with the engine is not running (the ones with an
operational Twilight Sensor and DRLs) but even they can be manually
overriden when the engine is not running.
