HELP! 3000GTSL
Am I in trouble!
Every year or so I clean the engine of my wife's 1991 3000 GTSL
(non-turbo). I use Gunk spray and then hose down. Never any problems
in the past.
Yesterday I cleaned it well. It did not hit on all cylinders when I
started it up but after a few seconds all OK. I then drove it for
about a mile and put it in the garage.
This morning my wife wanted to go shopping at the mall .. BIG SALE!
The engine turned over as usual but it would not start .. not even a
single cylinder kicked over. I then tried, to no avail. I also
tried using the usual method for starting a flooded engine ..
accelerator pedal down, etc.
I then pushed the car outside in the sun. The temp outside is 113 F in
the shade so I expect that the temp of the car in the sun is around
130 F ( I live near Palm Springs, CA .. desert country).
After about two hours It still would not start. The battery is good
and the starter is just fine. It is acting as if there is no spark to
the cylinder. I plan to leave it outside all day and night and retry
in the morning.
Any ideas ???? My wife is not happy .. I am in trouble!

I forgot to mention that I did check the fuses for ignition, etc and
they appear to be OK.

Re: HELP! 3000GTSL
Check the codes from the ECU. It may be a cam angle sensor got wiped out.
Other than that, pull the timing belt covers and look for a snapped belt.

You are amazing !! I took it to the dealer and he read the code. The
crankshaft position sensor is bad. They will take off the timing belt
cover later on today and see if it is just dirt and debris from my
engine washing.
What else can I say ...
