    Happy Thirteenth Anniversary Bonneville - 2/4/91 to 2/404 !!

Happy Anniversary, Happy Anniversary, Haaaaaaaaaaappy Anniversary !!

13 years ago today I brought home the Bonneville. Longest I've owned a
    car, so far.

My uncle told me I " may " break the family record of number of years
of owning an automobile. I certainly set the record for highest mileage.

I got to go past 14 years to beat my aunt, 15 to beat my parents and
past 16 years to beat my uncle, If my car can hold up that long ! Ha
    ha ha ha ha..

    As the record stands;

    Mom & Pops cars :
    60 Electra 1961 to 1974 ( tied this one ).
    70 Sedan DeVille 1970 to 1985.

    Aunt's : 64 Impala 1964 to 1979 .
    Uncle's: 63 LeSabre 1963 to 1979.
(rare car, 3 speed manual, column shift ).

That reminds me I got to take the cake out of the freezer.

Congrats, we don't really keep our cars very long here. The longest ever has
been a 92 Lumina and we got rid of that in 2000 with ~120k miles.

Harry, I gotta tell ya, you are the main reason I frequent this group. I
don't even own a GM car (I do have a GMC Yukon) and I usually drive a Honda,
but your posts make me smile more times than not. I love how you put a
positive spin on your posts which is refreshing with so many curmudgeons in
    newsgroups these days.

I know how you feel about your car. My wife and I bought our red Honda
Civic new in February 1990 and I still drive it daily. We told everybody
that it was a Valentine's present to each other, and we actually drove it
off the showroom floor of the dealership. I wonder how many people can say
that! I guess I'll have to keep it forever for sentimental reasons, but,
like your Pontiac, that's OK because it's a really good car.

    Congratulations, and enjoy your cake!

    WW

You're killin' me by listing those beautiful cars.

They just don't make 'em like they used to. And the really sad part
is that I don't think anyone will ever do so again.

Cars today are so darn bland.

    Congrats on the B-day, BTW!!

Re: Happy Thirteenth Anniversary Bonneville - Water Watcher

    WW,

I still remember the day I picked mine up.
I discovered some area's on the car that had paint overspray, wondering
what the hell did I just buy, apparently this car had some touch ups
done to that I wasn't aware of. This is why the dealers leave the cars
a little bit dirty, so you can't see stuff like that. They did wash the
car while I was there for the test drive, but didn't really dry it off
none to good. SO I missed seeing it.

As an added bonus the spare tire well was filled with water. Caulk seam
around the tailpanel had a pin hole. You just can't trust these damn
    robots to do anything right.

When I was driving the car home , 6 blocks from the dealer there was a
traffic accident at the intersection I had to turn left at. I couldn't
see anything with all the ambulances, fire trucks, sqaud cars, etc
    blocking the view.

I learned the next day on the front page of the newspaper a 23 year old
couple home 1 day from their honeymoon were killed when their car was
struck by a car fleeing the police. Three men & a woman did some
shopping lifting at a near by mall but were spotted by security who then
called the police.. The crooks were only slightly injured. The woman got
off for testifying against the others + time served. The other two and
the driver were sentenced to less than 10 years and have all been
    released.
