Saab: gearbox oil chaeck on '88 900i 8V (non-Turbo)

1. is it difficult to test the level ?
2. do I need to poke a something inside,
or is there a dipstick ?
(sorry for such dumb questions - I'll get better with time)

Dipsticks on right hand side of engine near exhaust manifold, (unless
someones fitted a newer tranny...)
