Garmin 2610 ....another question or two
How big an area can I expect the 128mb card to hold when down to rural
street lvl setting? Can a whole state fit on it at that setting ?
Do I need a 256 or 512mb card?
Thanks

Yes, though how many states depend on the population and road density
of the state. Oregon and Washington and most of California (minus the
LA area) fit in 128 MB. It takes 2 GB to load the whole US and Canada.

Re: Garmin 2610 ....another question or two
In my case I have the states of Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts,
Connecticut, Rhode Island, eastern NY and NJ, basically a pretty good
chunk of New England.
The only time I've had to load different maps is when travelling to
another state, which is uncommon. If it happened more often I'd get a
larger card, or maybe just a different one I can swap in.

Yet another question....
Can I install this myself or do I really need it done by a profesional?
THanks

Both the 2610 and 2650 are plug and play....but;
it you want the dead reckoning capabilities in the 2650, you have to
install some additional wiring. Garmin only sells that model through
authorized installers...
I'll bet 99.5% of 2600 series owners own the 2610.

Re: Garmin 2610 ....another question or two
Does the amount of data/size of CF card effect speed? Would 128 MB be slower/faster that
256MB and so on?
Warm Regards,
Lou

What's been written in the past says there's little/no effect.
