Navigation & GPS Systems: Fugawi UK Elevation files

Fugawi UK Elevation files
Gosh, didn't realise how much discussion my initial question would create.
Regarding the OS UK, I imported all the data off the CD which seems to cover
30-60N 9E-10W, quite a lot of data. You can guess the coverage from the file
and directory, e001 is East 1deg folder containing North 30 to North 53
elevation data files. etc etc.If you want them all just select the main dted
folder
and click on OK(or press return).
Data is said to be at 900 metre linear interval (30sec arc)
which results in Snowdon, for example, shown as only 800 metres - 200 metres
lower than it is. Just depends where the true elevation data lies, the rest
is
interpolated, you might even find yourself going up when the data says down.
The data is from US and available for the entire globe but seems poorer than
the original. If interested follow the Fugawi internet link on Forms
Elevation.
btw, Is Fugawi derived from the old old tale of the Fugawi pygmy tribe who
live in
very tall grassland??
Good Luck.

That's what the pygmies shouted when they jumped up to see over the tall
grass.
