    FS 1982 Corvette

This is a good chance to get a nice 82 at a LOW price. This one is
mechanicaly in great shape, it only needs paint to be complete. The
interior is solid but could probably use some freshning.

first $7500.00 takes it. Located north west of Austin, TX, but can be
delivered anywhere. Lots of photos at

    http://www.westcoastsportscars.com/82vette.html

    Thanks
    LC

    I guess so.

When you factor in the $5000 for stripping and then new paint, you have
    $12,500 in it.

The right front and right rear corners have obviously been tapped from the
looks of the pictures. The quality of pictures is not good enough to
determine extent. So figuring that you have another $500 in work easily we
    are up to $13,000.

You can find a lot of nice cars for $13,000. I guess you aren't in a hurry
    to sell.

Reserve is lower than the Buy it Now. Also you get a car that is finished
the way you want it. If you can't afford a Vette, then maybe you should
    consider a less collectible car.

The paint is stripped, but is hasn't been "Tapped". You can get a nice
    paint job for 3000.00

Are you sure this isn't just a guy named "Edmund" that you asked?

We have been selling collector cars for over 20 years. Let me clue you in
    on a few things.

    1) If you find ANY Corvette of ANY Year in "Outstanding" condition for
2900.00, buy all of them you can. And make sure the easter bunny gives you
clear title when you buy them! Both of those things don't exist.

    2) NADA Collector Car guide lists the std 82 Vette, with no options at

    Low Retail $7,600
    Average Retail $14,400
    High Retail $19,800

    3) 1984 Corvettes which are arguably the WORST year model EVER, sell for
4500 or more in worse condition than this one.

It is pretty clear you don't know much about Vettes, and you would do well
to learn a bit before making such foolish statements.

    you

But yours isn't in outstanding condition. It needs paint. The interior
looks like, but those aren't detailed shots you give. A buyer can look at
least at $4000 average for good paint and a month or two of downtime. The
orange spot on the bumper is a big question as what it is and what it will
take to rectify (sanding, replacement, etc.).

Guides are just that - guides.

In the last couple of weeks on eBay, '82 ranged from $4000 to $11,500 on
completed auctions. the $11,500 didn't meet the reserve, however, that
doesn't imply it had a higher value, simply that the guy wanted more than
    anyone offered.

The real value of any car is what someone will actually pull out of their
pocket and give you, regardless of all the price guides in the world.

That may be true, but you make it sound like it is junk. Each initial year
    had problems - '53, '63, '68, '84, and '97.

Chevy usually had them fixed by mid production and usually over half of the
production run were very good cars. It is simply the stigma the early ones
created that mark the later ones.

One of the Corvette engineers told me in '89 that the best Corvette to use
as a base for racing was the '84 as it still had the best suspension up to
    that time.

It is pretty obvious that you are a used car salesman and used to bullying
people into paying your price or else.

All of that said, the price of $7500 on your web site is in line with being
a fair price. However, most are not looking for a fair price, but a good
deal. So don't be surprised if you have no takers on this news group.

Insulting remarks about people you know nothing about also doesn't do much
to gain you any fans. While some think the '80-'82 is the greatest looking
Corvette built, I think the integral spoiler makes the front end look heavy
and out of balance, since the integral rear spoiler tends to make the rear
look shorter. Granted they were functional (and many converted previous
years in B/Prod to the '80-'82 body to take advantage of the functionality),
but they still look heavy to me. Just like the Greenwood IMSA bodies were
functionally wonderful, they looked extremely big, making an already big car
(for a sports car) even bigger.

I prefer my two that I have, but I'm always on the lookout for a deal. So
your comment to me was a stupid one. Not only could I afford your car, I
can afford not to buy your car.

And not only did the word have the opportunity to see your put down, they
also got the chance to see my reply, which may make them think twice about
    buying from you.

Not too bright for someone trying to sell something.

This is the same company (?) that had the 50 Chevy coupe for sale and it was
a 4 door sedan. That was not a problem though, they had a maroon 49
Chevrolet coupe that had 4 doors also if you needed parts.

Oh, Crap, You're a salesman, YOU MUST BE RIGHT.

I appologize sincerely. Please, I'll take it for $12k, and if you have one
with a little paint left on it I'll give you my '04 coupe and '02 Z06

By the way Mr. Mixon, it looks to me like you've been selling collector car

Did you really think you were anonymous? Malicious posting of personal
information is against your ISP's terms of service and an abuse report has
been filed via the traceroute information below.

Selling a car for a fair price is hardly dishonest. One of our companies
does sell shirts, another web hosting, another cars. What's your point?

7500 for a solid 82 that needs paint is not outrageous. Claiming you can
buy one in outstanding condition for 2900 is!
