frost plug removal/block heater.
'95 Legacy, tried removing screw-in plug in the block when the engine was
cold and I couldn't budge it, any hints/tricks. Thanks. TG

Drain the coolant if you haven't already done so, and heat it and the
surrounding area with a propane torch. This will soften the thread
sealant enough to let you remove the plug. You want to get it heated
to ~250F or so; almost too-hot-to-touch (the ol' scorched finger
gauge). Be sure to reapply loctite "red" or similar when you put
things back together.

Thanks, I thought a hot engine from driving would be good enough but I'll
try the torch. TG

"0" land, where about? I'm in Billings MT. Operate HF mobile 5 hours a day
and have the 146.76 repeater. TG

Should this approach fail; start with a hot engine then apply
a lump of "dry ice" to the block heater. OR leave it in place and
install an in-line engine heater in one of the heater hoses.
Good Luck Walt
