Re: Ford to Police: get lost!
The Chevy is only about $1,500 cheaper to buy and the Dodge is
about $2,000 less. Our maintenance records indicate, on average,
those original cost saving will be eaten up within the first two
years.

I think the biggest market for FWD vehicles is the US Military. I don't
think that there is a RWD car in whole Department of Defense. Sure, a lot
of the vehicles are pickup trucks, but the ones that hound you on the roads
are FWD. There are messloads of Impalas showing up!

Re: Ford to police: Get lost!
I am a Deputy Sheriff and if I had my way every police force in the country
would be driving Crown vic's. Its the best car I have ever driven... great
handling, incredible power and even really surprising in snow. The only
thing I would ever change is the braking. As far as stopping in high speed
situations they are good but could be better. Wouldnt trade my crown vic for
any other police vehicle... Well ok Maybe a Hummer.. heh heh

Not even a Grand Marquis or a Town car?
....hehe just kiddin' man I like those too, and I'm not even a law
enforcement. Where I live I think almost all the local police cars are
Crown Vics. I think maybe some of the slightly older ones might be chevy
caprice.
Now, Oklahoma Highway Patroll has some cameros......

A Hummer? You did mean one with the interceptor package right? Otherwise you
couldn't catch up to a Chevette!

A modified SVT Focus (automatic, HD battery) is what you really need. Much
better handling, braking, fuel economy and better in snow than the Crown
Vic. Keep a few CVs around for transports and such. Of course you weren't
looking for a rational solution - were you?

Do the cruisers come with ABS? I just got an '02 Town Car with ABS &
I'm not sure yet if I like it. I've had it kick in when hitting the
brakes hard on rough pavement & it's really disconcerting so far.
