    fast idle

Got a 90 XJ, when I start it cold it idles fine. Its after it warms up the
idle goes up to about 1500 RPM. Don't see any vacume leaks.

    Thanks Kevin

More than likely it is your TPS circuit on the throttle body it usually gets
dirty and cannot stroke properly, clean with carb cleaner if that does not
    work replace the electric solenoid.

My '88 was doing that, and with the good advice from these here folks, I
unplugged the Throttle Position Sensor (round shaped plug housing going into
the front of the carburetor) and cleaned the contacts with electrical
contact cleaner, let dry and replaced.
