    E46 service reset & diags

    Hi
Ive just P/E'd my E36 for a E46 330iSE. I cannot find the service reset
tool interface under the bonnet, but have found a SCART type socket
under the drivers side dash. Is this the reset socket ? & do I need to
    buy a new tool ?
Does this socket allow access to other system info - if so, how can I
interace with it with a PC & given software ?

    All help appreciated.

    TIA,
    Andy

The socket you're referring to is the OBD II diagnostic socket. That's the
type of interface that all new BMW's use. As for resetting the service
interval indicator, why do you want to? Is the car brand new? If so, all of
your maintainence is covered under warranty, right? As for other data, yes,
a DIS Tester or a GT1 can read out a ton of information from that socket,
but I don't know of anything aftermarket that can even come close.

No its secondhand, & I do all my own servicing.
Initially I want to reset the "service interval indicator", but it would also
be beneficial to have access to change some of the other parameters - alarm
    settings, central locking, etc.
