BMW: E39 Clutch Life??

Any experience with E39 5-speed (2000 528i) clutch life expectancy? About
how many miles, of 50/50 town, freeway driving are expected from these cars
before a clutch job.

It depends entirely on the driver. Drive with no respect for the clutch in
just about _any_ car and you'll break it in a few thousand miles. Respect
the clutch and it'll last a very, very long time.

My last car, a '94 Mondeo TD, was still on the original clutch when we sold
it at 108K . . . a mate who bought a 316i Compact was on his third at 70K
in the same mileage. . .
