Okay, all USENET and Internet stuff happened back in the late 80's, have
you brushed up on any of it recently?

Add, not that it adds anything to the argument, I used the Internet
before it became the Internet. I'm 65 years old, retired military, and
had a little more than a passing acquaintance with DARPA's ARPANET and
the things that lead up to the Internet as it is today.

If I had to testify today about Gore's contribution to the "invention of
the Internet" about the most I could say would be that, as a member of
Congress and later as Vice President, he did not do anything to prevent
it. Gore's claim that "During my service in the United States Congress,
I took the initiative in creating the Internet" is shallow and vacuous
at best and intended to foster his political ambitions. Nothing more
    than that.

Please don't read anything in this discussion as anything but pleasant
natured and open minded. I've not studied USENET newsgroups in any
    depth recently either.

Don't worry about it, Jack. I may sound nasty and severe sometimes, but
have nothing but best wishes for the net and it's development.

In re: Al Gore. I'll take it that you are a republican. ;-)

Seriously though, he just had an awkward way of expressing himself. He
    bungled that big time.

The first political web page ever by constructed at MIT as soon as the
Clinton/Gore candidacy was announced. It was a simple list of their
papers. We had to program HTML by hand those days.

    alt.satellite.gps.tomtom has been created.

    ftp://ftp.isc.org/usenet/control/alt/alt.satellite.gps.tomtom.gz in case
you wish to ask your news provider to add it. Supernews has already been
    requested.

The news server I use news.individual.net/uni-berlin.de has not yet seen
either of your Control: newgroup messages or Christina's rmgroup message
which came between them alleging a lack of charter or justification.

All server admins reject rmgroups. Christina rmgroups all new alt groups.
There is no requirements for a charter or justification for alt groups.

You will probably have to ask individual.net to add the group. Most admins
only auto add groups from the Big 8 with a pgp signed control message.

I was not commenting on the lack of creation but on the absence of your
control message appearing in their control.newgroup pseudo group.

Ok, it may take a while for it to propogate. Look in control.newgroup,
see if it's there. That's where it is on Supernews.

Nothing seen so far, but I have already had the group added at
new.panix.com and have made a request with news.individual.net.
