Dodge Magnum owners
Hi
Looking for some Magnum owner willing to give their opinions regarding the
car. Reliability so far? I know there fun to drive, test drove the RT, what
a kick.
Thanks
John

Car runs great. Have been back to the dealer a few times.
First visit because the car pulled to the right all the time. They
did an alignment and ordered an improved replacement bolt for setting
one of the front end adjustments.
Second visit, to install the new bolt, which required taking part of
the front suspension apart, and, of course, another alignment.
Third visit because the center rear seat belt wouldn't retract after
the first time someone used it. The retractor appears jammed. There
is a lock on the retractor which engages when the rear seat back isn't
fully locked into position, but that does not appear to be the
problem. It's just jammed. Part is on order now.
I am getting about 21 or 22 mpg highway and about 17 or 18 city.
That's running the recommended mid-grade gas for the HEMI in the RT.
(I have a friend whose Magnum has the larger six-cylinder and he gets
mid-teens around town and upper teens on the highway.) The Magnum
does have a large tank, so it's near $30 to fill it up. On a similar
note, the oil change for the HEMI takes 6 quarts. I use synthetic
oil, so it's $50 for each oil change.
No squeaks or rattles. It rides great, and it handles better than any
other full-size car I've ever driven.

Doesnt that void the warranty when you use a different oil than recommended?

The Magnum RT Hemi takes 7 quarts of oil when doing an oil and oil filter
change. And you are supposed to use 5W-20 oil or else the MDS (cylinder
deactivation) will not operate properly and will hurt your fuel mileage.
I only have 1600 miles on my Magnum RT and the car is great. No problems at
all and the car rides and handles great for a large car. You will have to
get used to people always gawking at the car and asking questions about it.
I have the navigation system on my car and I love the thing.

I have the RT. No problems whatsoever. I get about 17 town and about 21 hwy
@ 82mph. Of course I still have a pretty heavy foot!
My record is 27mpg at 62 on an hour trip. I like all the options I got.
Basically fully loaded. Never thought I would be a fan of Satellite radio
until I started my free 1 year subscription. It's amazing how fast I got
used to no commercials.
