dipstick accurate, overfill voyager, this oil?

Am concerned about something as simple as the correct level
of oil in the engine. I wanted to calibrate the dipstick but the
mechanic said it was hard to do.

    1994 Voyager 3.0 Mitsubishi, 3-speed with overdrive

    had oil changed.
before changing, added 3/4's of a quart when at ADD mark,
seemed to go slightly about FULL but below the first hole on dipstick.
This was with 177,000 mile and maybe 2000 miles after
    an oil change.

dealer said it was okay when checking the oil. aid it an inch
or two above FULL than a problem.

    After another oil change,
up to the first hole, 1/2 quart too high?? 1/4 quart, just can't fell.
for other plymouths, between add and fill 1 quart
is that the two notches with ADD below the first
and FILL about the second notch?
    check how many quarts needed

Wy concerned? Concerned because mechanic said the oil was thin, maybe
contaminated. But nothing obvious, just thin, he said.

I thought, if overfilled slightly, maybe thinned because
up to level of camshaft and foamed slightly?

The marks or notches between the ADD and FILL are quite small -
is this the area for 1 quart? from ADD notch to FULL notch?
Would this sort of info be in the shop manual?
Thought the Haynes manual might or might not cover this.

How many quarts should the mechanic put in with an oil change
and filter. Is it 5, or 4 or what a fraction?

Thought, with a thin tube, could drain some oil of out of the
dipstick tube, have done that before on another car, assuming
the plastic tube is wide enough and oil not too thick.

Maybe send the oil away for analysis? Collect out of the dipstick
now or wait until next oil change.

This engine is not smoking which is good for a 177,000 mile engine of this
type which are prone to smoking.

The dispstick is strange, bend and just not the ordinary flat
wide dipstick. Wish it were an old-fashioned flat, wide dipstick.

    Any suggestions?
