If you can believe it, there have actually been cars built that had
FWD/transverse and RWD/longitudinal in the *same* unit body shell: Triumph
Toledo/Dolomite.
I have NO idea why British Leyland did this, nor do I know whether they
actually made any money doing it.

Re: Did you know??????????????????????????
hmmmmm interesting. Yeah, I know IS300 is a inline V6 with 215HP and
3.0L engine. Neverthless, like Tegger said it is possible that they
both were built out of the same mold. It was actually Toyota people
who told me that they shared the same frame and platform.

Re: Did you know??????????????????????????
Wrong. The corolla is based on the NCV platform, which includes the Matrix,
RunX, and is a variant of the Celica platform.
The IS300 shares it's platform with the Japanese Toyota Progres.

Re: Did you know??????????????????????????
Faisal, there is no such thing as an "inline V6." The IS300 is
an -inline 6- mounted longitudinally in the car .

ALMOST -every- .... My dear deluded man, you need to get under a few
cars. So say "Almost every vehcile Toyota builds shares its chassis
...." MEANS that you have to include cars with SUVs with pickups. Try
again, ol chap.

They made money with the Morris Marina, and lost money building just about
everything else.
If Leyland/Triumph had not been pushed by the government into the merger
with BMC in 1968, Britain might have possibly still had a native auto
company. Leyland actually *made* money from their commercial business.

Actually what I said, my confused man, was 'Almost every vehicle
Toyota builds shares it chassis with another Toyota. Far
different than every Toyota shares the same chassis
with every other. Perhaps you need to get under a few
and look

Yeah, another stupid comment from Mike. Platform sharing is common,
but there is no FWD car that shares a common platform with a RWD car.

Correct! And that brings in another case of badgeswapping - Chevrolet
Cavaliers badged Toyota for NZ, Toyota Matrix's badged Pontiac Vibe for
USA... interestingly the Vibe almost has a seperate following because of the
build difference - the strange errata are TOTALLY DIFFERENT errata to those
of full GM Pontiacs.
