    Dex Coolant/coolant lite?

    would having regular coolant instead of the DEX make the "check
    Coolant" lite go on?
    just curious.

    Good Afternoon Gardent:

    If your engine requires that you use Dexcool, then do not deviate from
    that requirement. I own two Cadillacs (1995 STS - Green Antifreeze;
    2004 DTS - Dexcool). GM recommends that the proper antifreeze be
    poured into your vehicle.

    Peace,

    The check coolant light could indicate a leak somewhere in your
    cooling system. Check your surge tank to see if you have the proper
    level of fluid. If it is low, then fill to the proper level, and when
    you park the car for the evening, place newspaper under front section
    of your car. Remove the newspaper before starting your car the next
    morning as not to start a fire, and examine the spot or spots to see
    if there any for coolant and/or oil on the newspaper.

    Peace,
