a couple of questions by a new prius user

Hi, i recently discovered this group and wish to first greet the participants.

I'm a new user of a prius, purchased ~15 days ago, apart from being fully
satisfied, i have a couple of questions for which i could'nt find an answer in
    the manual.

    1) if i'm listening to radio or cd while driving, and arrive where i went to go,
stop machine but want to continue watch the radio program (or the cd) for a while.
Is there a way to switch to NON-ready mode (ig-on to ig-off) whitout stop
everything and start again while NOT pressing brake? (doing so will shut down
radio and it takes a while until it starts again at the same point)

    2) in my garage sometimes i need to move the car for half a meter for logistical
reasons (tight box). Is there a way to park in neutral mode (free wheels)
avoiding the normal behaviour that goes to park mode?

    TIA.

    Hi!

Just press "Park". The batteries will still be functioning until you
press "Power" to turn it off.

When I use my car vacuum, that runs off of the battery, the car has to
be on. Nothing works unless it is.

Sorry, I don't understand this question.

Well, just press P, and the engine will stop by itself anytime soon
    if not already.
Then finish your CD track quietly.

N-position, while still powered. (as powering off turn to P
    automatically).
If you mean to have a real free wheels mode, such as being able to
close the car (powered-off) and push it by hand, sorry, it's an
automatic gear, always on charge from wheels to engines (well, the
    opposite... you get it :-).
To tow it, the front wheels must be off the ground... you have full
mechanical control of the breaks on the rear wheel near the
    conductor door on the left!

Just put it into park. There's no reason not to be in ready mode.

Ok, i thought there could be a mode to turn off the "ready" mode whitout
switching off and on again (but whitout brake pressed).

    ....
Yes. I was asking because i have read somewhere that if you hold for a couple of
seconds the gear lever to "N" it remains in neutral but perhaps i have'nt
    understood correctly.

    Others have answered this.
I take it that you wish to manually push the Prius around in the level
garage without the engine starting? If so, do this:

1 Without pressing the brake pedal, press Power twice to get IGN-ON.

2 Press the brake pedal and hold gear lever in Neutral for 2 seconds.

    ....it works!
....only of course it must left ign-on so it can not stay for a long time that way.
