Cobra saga continues... New Tire opinions?

well thank you all for your input. I really appreciate your wisdom.

I somewhat figured he was pulling my chain.. and would only dance for him so
    far.

I had the exhaust replaced today with a catback system slightly more open
than O.E. so it purrs like a kitten on idle and roars like a lion when
    romped.-- $400 not too bad.

I checked with Sears, who I'd bought my now dry rotted tires from 3 years
and 12k miles ago. They are offering to replace the BFGoodRich CompT/As
with the same (about a $105 credit per tire). My cost is installation at $13
per tire. period.. or I can chip in more to go up to just about any brand..
Sumitomo, Yokohomo, Kelley etc etc. Any opinions on which tire is better
for the buck ? I personally drive this car street, hwy and maybe romp at
70mph tops. I still want to stay Z rated. Ideas ?

The buyer told me to contact him after I had the exhaust replaced.. plus he
knew nothing about the tires going to be replaced for free. Bonus for him
there I thought. Well he said he had more thoughts and decided that he
really wasn't interested in the car strictly now because the tail light had
been broken out by someone backing in to me a few years ago... I have
replaced it with an OE lens from Ford btw plus bought two extras from Ebay.
His buddy told him not to trust anything .. that it could have been severly
hit at one point... there was just no way of knowing. He said he had
settled in his mind on a lower price and would spring cash for it if I had
decided to sell.. but he didn't want to offend me by quoting it. For #$its
and giggles I asked.. and he said $8000.. even after replacing the exhaust
and getting new tires. I promptly told him that I wasn't interested in
playing his games anymore and said in fact, I was now more interested in
staying somewhere closer to my original asking price and that if he keeps
looking he could either a) buy a newer, more perfect cobra for $18-25 grand,
used.. or $35k plus for a new 2003... or b) come to his senses and call me
back to offer me more. I said I would no longer wait for him to decide and
would advertise via ebay and by paper starting sunday.. I pretty much left
    it at that.

This really is a sweet cobra.. and I am not out to jerk anyone around. I
even ran a carfax to show any interested. Well, his loss...

Anyone interested in this car ? You will get the 110% honest truth on it.

    Hi Dave,
If you're getting the replacement tiires for the cost of installation, and
still want to sell the car, I wouldn't spend another dime on them other than
    that.

Screw him. He's jacking you around, period.

How do you know if it has been badly damaged??? Just look all over the body
for the VIN tags. It amazes me that someone who wants so much, knows so
little about telling if there has been major fixes.

VIN tags are on virtually every body panel, inner front fenders, nose cap,
hood, hatch, under each door, etc... If they have the VIN then either
they're original or whoever did any repaint work knew to either try and save
them or paint around them. In both cases it could be obvious. If they've
been painted over, then it's obvious again. If the panel has been replaced,
then the decal will be Ford DOT instead of the VIN.

It sounds like a great car, I'd love to have something like that. Of course
with nothing but my Ranger right now, I'd love to have anything with power.

Way overpriced. It's non-original with mods and crap all over the

Just curious, what other tires have you tried? My Goodyear F1s need to be

Dunlops, Pirellis, Goodyears, Yokohamas, Goodrich, and the old
Firestone Firehawks (which, BTW, were crap).

Go to the Tire Rack's tire rating guide and compare the Firehawks to
the rest. You'll see that they're best in their price range, and
better over all than most of high-buck tires.

I was not going to get Firestones, but after looking at the ratings I
decided to take a chance. Boy, am I glad I did. They're awesome
    tires!
