Mitsubishi: Clicking noise from ’95 Eclipse

Clicking noise from ’95 Eclipse
I just recently got my front right tire changed b/c I went over a pot
hole and it popped my tire. About 2 days later my brake light kept
coming on and then it will turn off. I checked my emergency brake and
it wasnt that. And now Im hearing a clicking noise when I turn on my
car and when I accelerate. Any thoughts before I spend my entire life
savings on fixing my car for the 10th time?!

Re: Clicking noise from ’95 Eclipse
In many states damages from potholes is payed by the state or local
government. You may want to check with them. At least document anything you
have done.
As for the brake light, check you're brake fluid. If it is low and you
accelerate, you may just be seeing the light intermitantly. The clicking
noise is likely a wheel bearing, but could also be from a damaged control
arm (balljoint). Have a reputable mechanic look at it. There is a recal for
this and you may want to call the dealer and see if you're car has been
done. You will need the VIN.
If you are strapped for cash, please seek assistance from you're local DSM
community. A lot of us work on DSMs for free.

Re: Clicking noise from ’95 Eclipse
I agree, and would like to also add, that it could be the CVJ also.

well, im not quite sure what you mean, you hear this noist as soon as
you start the car.... before it moves? i can understand while its
moving, ie. balljoint, cvj or control arm. the cvj you can usually
tell is going, when you turn a corner you will hear a constant click,
the ball joint and control arn when you hit bumps they will clunk.
how heavy is the acceleration, under heavy accel. if there is a big
clunk it would probably have something to do with the strut tower, had
that happen on numerous dsms, somewhat common. if it is as soon as
you start the car it will be electrical, have abs? if so check for
loose or broken wires, i have an early 95 w/o abs but these dsm’s
carry many of the 94’s traights. if your 95 is a late model year it
is very possible for it to be abs, i had a newer s10 with a bad front
abs sensor and it clicked and rattled at start and driving.... just a
thought, hope it helps

Re: Clicking noise from '95 Eclipse
if you hear the noise only when turning your vehicle 1 way either left or
right check outer cv joints altho i have not heard of any recalls on cv
joints they are a common problem and seen frequently in transmission
shops..ASE certified transmission tech ...dont buy a new computer for your
car have yours fixed ask me net
