Cleaning road sealant from tires -- HELP!

New day...new crisis. I wasn't going to go to work today either...didn't
feel well, but decided to go anyway. Big mistake. Right outside the
building, crews were sealing cracks in the road. I guess the part I
    drove over wasn't dry.

Crap was all caked in my tires. Balance way the hell off. When I got
home, I was able to scrape the bulk of it off...enough so I should be
able to drive it (on the slow route -- 40mph seems okay now).

But, I need to get the rest of this crap off. Gasoline will melt it off,
but I would suspect that I shouldn't use gas on the tread. Brake cleaner
will work too but, "do not use on rubber" is right on the can. Simple
Green will also work (ok for tires per label), but my tests on the
substance suggest a lot of time and elbow grease will be involved with
that. Not sure about Tar/Bug remover...I don't have any around right
    now.

    Any suggestions?

The alternative is to get the tires rebalanced every 4-8 weeks as the
    remnants wear off.

    TIA

    Try WD-40

I went the gasoline route. Worked faster than anything else. There is
still some slight residue left in the various 'nooks an cranies'. This
crap is all in the cracks everywhere. I got it quite clean though. The
residue that remains isn't coming off anytime soon and it will be
impossible to get it all anyway so I'm just going to get the wheels
    rebalanced next week.

For the hell of it, I'll do a test with the WD40...thanks for the tip!
