The only reason I can think of to cover the car during the winter if stored
inside is if one has cats that love climbing all over the car,.....
otherwise no real reason to cover a car sitting inside a garage...
Just my opinion....

stored
I'm with you Bob. With that good coat of wax, dust will wash off nicely in
the spring. I'm not a great fan of car covers because they can mar a finish
if there is any dust, dirt or lint on the covered surface.

The Souveran was the easy part. It went on and off like warm butter. The
Klasse was tough to get off. I used a claybar on the car before waxing.

finish
No on the car cover, cats or no cats. They jump up and hang on the car cover
as it slides down the side. Only serves to get their claws out far enough to
scratch like there was no tomorrow.
