    chime on all the time

    Greetings,

Has anyone experienced the following. The chime module in a 1993 Grand
Cherokee Limited is on all the time. It is not going ding-ding ding
non-stop. more like when Jim Carry in the movie Dumb and Dumber said you
want to hear the worlds most annoying noise. and proceeds to make a
screeching sound. In other words the chime mnodule is in a continuos
    screech.

If I remove the chime module, the screetching stops, but then the power
window controls for the passengers do not work, but the drivers does, nor do
the power door locks lock, but they unlock.

Thinking the module itself may be defective, I went to the local scrap yard,
which happened to have one lying around and replaced it, it seemed ok for
about 15 minutes then that wonderful screech returned.

has anyone experience this, was it able to be fixed.

The only thing I can think of right now is an improper voltage reaching the
unit or a bad ground and the module is acting weird because of it.

Have you checked out the switch or sensor that activates it?

    you
    nor
    for

I have obtained some wiring diagrams and as far as I can see there are the
    following pins

    Input
    Seatbelt (Seat belt switch)
Ignition (goes to ignition switch (Start
    pos)
    also instrument
    cluster ,
    also + terminal in
    battery
    also goes thru engine
light and to pin 32 on pcm
    also goes to head
light delay Module (pin 'Ignition off sig')
Power goes to headlight switch and battery)
Key in ignition Switch, goes to Key in ignition switch
    and Headlight switch, the other
side of the Headlight switch is the door switch

    Other Pins
    Ground ....
    Fasten Belt indicator

I don't think it is the seatbelt switch since the seatbelt indicator does
    not stay on,
I don't think it it the left door switch the interior lights come on and go
off, (unless it is a multi pole switch ?? or short ??)
The headlight switch is in auto all the time, it never moves, even if it
shorted out some how it still needs to go through the door switch, Hmmm....
there could be a short circuit there too... Looks like I have some checking
    to do

However, what is unusual is that it doesn't make a ding ding sound, it is
more of a constant screech. I have somewhat lost confidence in the wiring
diagram, since I remove the module, the power door locks unlock, but will
not lock, I put the chime module back in and the door locks will lock
again! I have searched the internet for this chime on all the time problem
and other people (one) have the same problem, they too remove the chime
module and experience power door locks not working. So now the question is
what does the power door locks have to do with the chime module ???? I
can't see any connection between them. Other than the battery and ground.

    Thank you,
