Kia: Checking Transmission Fluid in Kia Sportage

A friend has a 2000 Kia Sportage. He does not know if he should it in
neutral or park when he checks the fluid.
So what's the answer? Neutral or park when you check the transmission fluid
in this car?

As far as the transmission fluid is concerned, they are the same. Park is
just neutral with a mechanical lock on a gear so the vehicle doesn't move.
