Dodge: Cat remove, opinion wanted

Cat remove, opinion wanted
Hi group,
1992 Dodge caravan, 2.5 automatic, 335.000km
Recently the cat started rattling. It seems it's loose in the casing.
Dealer want big€€€€€ to replace it.
My idea: since my car is running on propane and since propane is a
relatively clean fuel, how abouth just removing the cat from it's casing
and driving without one. Will it harm anything? Will I risk failing
smogtest?
Thanx for all the input
Timo

Re: Cat remove, opinion wanted
Remove the CAT and get a really long drill bit and drill the sucker out,
then put it back. I agree there should be reason in this case that this
will harm anything. Plus, when they look underneath, it appears the cat is
still there and functional.

Re: Cat remove, opinion wanted
If your in the US you could get a BIG fine and possible jail time for
removing a emissions control device.
And you would fail testing since the missing cat would be easy to spot
during the visual inspection.
