    car plastic wrap?

My dealer is offering to apply a 3M "plastic wrap" to my 997 before
    delivery.

Is this a good idea? I live in a area where a lot of sand is applied to
roads, how long will this stuff last? Will it trap moisture the way a
    standard auto bra does?

I'd recommend it. I wish I had done so, but it's too late these days
for mine (she does have it on her flanks, though). The shield should
last quite a while and repairing it is more desirable than to do so to
    the paint, IMHO.

The only downside is that on certain areas like the hood you can clearly see
a line where the wrap is and where it isn't.
