WASHINGTON - One-third of President Bush's tax cuts have gone to the
wealthiest 1 percent of Americans, shifting more burden to middle-income
taxpayers, congressional analysts said on Friday.

What does this have to do with automobiles?
By the way, it's not their money. The money was already spent. We have a
huge national debt.

Re: Bush attacks the middle class with taxation...
Ah, more election year nonsense.
That 1% (which I am not, alas, part of) pays FAR beyond their proportional
share of the total tax burden. That's if you count in terms of total number
of people or total dollar income. Your pick.
So, if you give any kind of tax decrease (that is not meant to be
discriminatory against the people who pay most of the taxes), it is
absolutely inevitable that the top tax payers will get a proportionately
bigger break...because they pay proportionately more in the first
place...and they still will after the tax cut. (Example, somebody collects
donations to fix a shared fence. One guy gives $100 and another gives $1.
They collect $2 too much and decide to refund it to the two contributors. In
goofy democrat campaign ad think the proper way to return the $2 is to give
the two guys who contributed either $1 each back or, even better, the guy
who gave $1 gets $2 and the $100 guy gets nothing.)
Face it, the rich subsidize the rest of us w.r.t. federal taxes. That's how
a graduated income tax system, like we have, works and is intended to work.
We are leaching off of them, not vice versa, if you want to consider it as
who is taking advantage of whom. You make not like 'em, but at least have
the decency to admit they are paying far more than their fair share of the
total tax burden.
This democrat "Somebody has more than I do and it's not fair, I'm getting
screwed" crap puts me in mind of P. J. O'Rourke's excellent book title "Eat
the Rich".
