Ford Mustang: Bassani Warranty

Bassani Warranty
Can anyone tell me why Bassani voids the warranty on the x-pipe if the 3
sections are welded together? My shop told me it would leak if it
wasn't welded, so I told them to go ahead and weld it.
Just wondering, I'm not too concerned about the warranty, 90 days isn't
that big a deal. If they stood behind their product, they would offer a
2 year warranty at least.

Hey John,
I was wondering the same thing since I just had a Bassani X pipe installed
last week in my car. All welded in I might add. It was a great addition to
the car as well. I am looking forward to hearing other peoples responses to
this post.

Re: Bassani Warranty
The x pipe comes in pieces so they can cut down on shipping costs. The only
thing that can go bad on it is the cats, if it has cats. and in that case
they usually just swap out the cat that is broken and re-weld a new one
in...

Re: Bassani Warranty
I was surprised at how little the sound of the exhaust changed inside of
the car. It did change a little, but not $450 worth.
I do notice an increase in power.
After having the x-pipe in for a week, I ordered the cat back exhaust from
Bassani. It just wasn't enough vroom for me.
Expensive though, ouch.

Hey Kate,
Personally I think it was a good addition. Since I live in NJ where they are
really cracking down on vehicle inspections, I went with the X pipe with the
cats. As for the sound, It completely changed from the stock H pipe. Sounds
more on the lines of a Ferrari or Lambo to compare. Since I have driven a
355 Spyder and a Diablo, I can come to that conclusion about the comparison.
At normal highway speeds, it is about the same sound wise as before since
you are not up in the power band and you are low in the RPM curve. The car
definitely breathes easier as you can here the air being sucked in through
the cold air intake much more over the stock H pipe. As for a power
increase, I feel a little more in the mid and for sure more power above the
5k range. I think I would like to change my gears to 3.73 gears, get a
higher flow Mass air meter and some sort of custom tuned chip such as the
Diablosport. Any suggestions in the are would be appreciated.
Regards,
Steve

Re: Bassani Warranty
That's the reasoning Bassani gave me. Mine leaks a little, though, so I'm
thinking about having it welded. As far as sound goes, I have mine matched to
the quiet thunder cat-back, and it's pretty bad when you get on it. I'm not
really too fond of the sound at idle though...it's almost as if the cats are
crackiling or something. Wonder if magnaflow has the same sound?
