axxess 93 manual 2.4 heating problem - need your opinion ?

My motor temp is ok, but the air comming from my heating system is not
really hot as it was normally, i assume that my heater rad is blocked
partially (no liking and no fog in the winshield) , also, im not losing
prestone, the thermostat as been change 3 time already by nissan original
    parts.

Im calling rad repair shop to get it unblocked and i got so many info, which
    one is the truth.
2 are saying that it is blocked by grease and they will unblock it with
    pressure hot water
2 other one says that it is calcaire (limestone), one is using acid and the
other one is using costic stuff.

when they says it is grease, they say that it is impossible to get calcaire
since 80' and when it is calcaire, they say that there is no grease in the
    heater rad.

price are going from 40 to 160 $ can.
i really dont know which one to trust.

look at the heater control valve (usually located on the firewall at the
back of the engine compartment. it will have 2 heater hoses connected to it
approx 18mm in diameter). it connects by cable to the temperature selector
on the dash. if this valve is not openening all the way it will not allow
hot water to pass into the heater box. you might try to disconnect the cable
and open/close it by hand to verify. this valve is often less than $35.US.
some (1-2 litres) coolant may be lost in changing out the valve. use caution
when the engine coolant temperature is high; you will get burned by hot
    coolant!

when this valve goes bad in the summer it will usually not close fully,
allowing hot water to continually circulate into the heater box which
increases the temp of the air in the cabin.

sometimes you can eliminate the entire valve by replacing it w/ a similar
sized peice of tubing, but this will cause the cabin air temp to be at the
    warmest temperature all the time.

this is a very bad week to have such troubles in Quebec!

    good luck-
