Audi: Audi 100 Transmission FYI

Audi 100 Transmission FYI
Recently I thought I had a bad transmission in my 92 100S. The third
to fourth shift had a delay in it while (we thought) the valve
shifted. Once the shift came on, it shifted crisply.
I had one mechanic (that I trust) tell me he thought the transmission
was bad, and a transmission mechanic ( a good one and one I trust)
diagnose a troubled but driveable condition that wouldd eventually
fail. He told me to drive it until it failed due the expense of a
repair.
It's a good thing he did. I just changed the fuel pump and out of the
blue, the shifting problem is gone.
Maybe those in the know are aware that a FP issue can manifest itself
like this, but I thought I would share this for the rest of us.
I wonder how many tranny jobs have been done for a bad FP?

thanks for the information and congrats to you! :-)
feels like you won some money huh?
Why did you change the Fuel Pump and what else did you possibly touch?
Maybe fuses or fusebox and relays?

Yeah, I own two of these. One was running, the other was not. I
swapped FP relays and fuses to convince myself. What a pain those are
to get at! Also did the usual spark tests, checked all of the wiring.
The battery and main harness are often the cause of "no starts".
In the case, the FP was dead, no pump, no thump.
