Anyone having problems with GPS V v2.5 update?
Since upgrading my GPS V's software to 2.5, my V has been behaving
oddly.
It constantly recalculates routes, has unacceptably long delays when
showing upcoming turn details, or hangs altogether and never returns to
the map unless I manually cycle through the pages.
It's also giving me some screwball route suggestions but I'm not sure if
that's the software or the map data causing that particular problem.
Assuming it IS the v2.5 software, is there somewhere I can download the
older updaters so I downgrade the software? I saw nothing at the Garmin
web site. Do they have an FTP site?

It might be worth a complete reset back to defaults, then reload the maps

But I have not seen any of this with my V on 2.50 firmware.
Are you near a basemap/Mapsource boundary by any chance?

I think the log delays are somewhat normal
I tuen detail down do medium or less when routing
Email me, I have a few older ones on my harddisk

Re: Anyone having problems with GPS V v2.5 update?
Don't have the posters problems but I am now getting "Route Calculation
Error" once in a while during a recalculation, at that point the V just
forgets the route. There is one place in particular that this will always
happen, I though it was because the road on the map doesn't match the actual
location of the real road, but it happened a few days ago in another
location where that is not the case. If it happens enough and I can pin
down the conditions
I will report it to Garmin but till then I think my description will be just
too vague.

Easiest way is to downgrade the firmware to <2.50 and then reload 2.50
again. This will clear all user data and settings.

Re: Doing a reset (Anyone having problems with GPS V v2.5 update?)
Sandro,
Here is what I hear from Garmin on doing a reset.
"a data reset. This procedure will erase your user data which
will have to be entered again. While the unit is off, press and hold the
Menu button as you power the unit. Load the waypoints and routes again to
see if the same occurs."
It helped me when I had a similar problem.
