    Any drawbacks to ceramic brakes?

I see all the magazines rave about ceramic brakes but I hear nothing on
how long they last, the cost of maintenance, or what type of pads they use.

A friend of mine recently replaced the pads and the rotors of his A4. 1200
USD. The performance is nothing special...

In my experience they are good for high temp stopping (good heat
resistance) such as autocross, roadracing scenarios. And good for
normal driving where you dont want a lot of dust buildup on your
wheels. But still maintain decent braking.

There are other pads that would be better for performance for the
    street, but will dust more.
