Ferrari: another debacle (AFAIWC)

I was disgusted with SPEED's coverage of this year's 24 Hours of Le
Mans. It's an MC tradition to watch as much coverage as is offered, and
this year we allegedly got 17.5 hours (I won't tell you how I used to
stay up for the race coverage, but this weekend it was 14 iced coffees).

Why do the producers of the telecast feel it necessary to fill every
single moment of their coverage with chatter and inane interviews?
Sometimes the many commentators even talked over each other. Only Alain
de Cadenet seemed to understand the value of saying his bits quickly and
quietly. Thank God for Radio Le Man's takeover at 9 pm or whenever that
was, it made the overall race coverage a little more bearable. I mean,
they talk a lot too, but they have something to say and it always feels
like it's in the background. More car noise, more in-car stuff, more
pertinent info.

But then it got especially worse during SPEED's 3am - finish coverage.
Sometimes there would be no racing shown at all between the frequent and
mind-numbing commercial breaks; only team management or driver
interviews. Often the only racing viewers got was the sound of the cars
passing by the interviewer and his subject. Can't they just have more
in-car cameras and mics, more of the sound and fury of Le Mans? SPEED
seems to have F1 coverage figured out well enough, but in my mind the Le
Mans coverage was deplorable. At least they could have showed Vanina
Ickx undressing or something. And God, do I FUCKING HATE JOHN BASEDOW!
If I have to see that prick's abs one more time ... ahh, WTF, I know I
will have to.
