Lexus: '99 LS400 Dash Temp Readout/Thermostat

For a 2-day period last week, the dash temp. readout (of outside air temp.)
read 11 deg. (on an 80+ deg. day) and only crept up to around 60 after a
good drive. It seemed to mess up the A/C system's automatic settings as
well. I made an appt. to take it in to the dealer, and since then, it
hasn't done it since. Temp. reads fine, A/C Climate Controls work fine.

Has this happened to anyone else? Maybe a connection to the sender?

This was one of those service issues that, when you take it in, you could
expect a swing between $1 and $1000........
