    99 honda Civic Pinging

I recently went to Midas to have my resonator pipe or I think it is refered
to as the "B" pipe replaced. The stretch of pipe between the cat and the
resonator was a very heavy cast iron like pipe and on the replacement it is
all aluminized steel. After I drive the car it pings like crazy! it sounds
like someone is playing a drum solo on my exhaust pipes. What is up with
this? Should i take It back or is this common for aluminized steel?
    Thanks
    Greg

    Greg,
It's my guess that the replacement pipe is the source of the sounds that
you are hearing. It's probably not what is known as pinging or knocking.
It's possible that Honda made use of the heavy cast iron like pipe to help
mask or cover up the sounds you have been hearing. However, I am only
guessing since I have not heard or read about this problme before. You
should take it back and have them install the same sort of pipes that were
on it before even if that means they have to order the parts from Honda.
If they don't do it--tell them you will sue them in small claims court.
