'98 Altima: Broken window switch while the window is down, HELP

Subject says it all. Car in question is a '98 Altima, the driver's window
is stuck down because the switch failed. I need to get the window back up
ASAP. I simply want to jump the pins in the wire connection to the switch.
Does anyone know which wires to jump to make the driver's window go up?
    Thanks.

I had the same [problem with my 95. The motors for the windows stop
working. My driver side and rear window (same side) are out. I was
searching on ebay and there are tons of items for sale for the nissan
    cares. I found someone offering parts for models 1993, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98,
Nissan Altima GXE Parts. They normally cost 100.00 a piece.

Thats cool, I'll probably pick up a new switch off of there, but I need to
get the window up. I guess I'll just have to rip the door apart and find
the motor and hit it with come current to get the window up.

$100 for the switch. Man, you Nissan owners are lucky, my car's switchpack
lists for $250. Thankfully I was able to open mine up and fix it since it
wasn't a circuit board type. Just some pivotting copper switches within
it. I did see a brand new switchpack for the Altima listed on an online
stealership for $75 brand new. Just do a google with 'nissan parts' for
    that place.

Re: '98 Altima: Broken window switch while the window is down, HELP

First I had the same problem few days back, the driver side window went
down but refused to come up. The motor will not make a sound if you hit
the switch up or down, its hard to tell if its switch or motor.

Spent 90$ and the guy told me its switch.

I called local dealer and its $86 for new one. I found that the
switches for 98-2001 are finiky. I would think its better to buy a new
one form Nissan delearship as they would give you warranty + the credit
card can give you additional warranty.

Now, to get your window up, I could not find any schematic or
description of the 12 terminals on the switch anywhere on internet.. so
I think I will not play with it, however I can now tell you how to get
the switch out without opening the door.

    - The door has a small slot for handle/conis etc. There is a screw in
there, you can remove it and the cup will come of.
    - You can now access the switch and the wire harness connected to it.
    - You can remove the harness and pull up for testing.
    - To remove switch assembly, you need to reach metal tab toward the
front end and press it to pull up the switch.
    - on the side there is a plastic tab, be careful and pull slowly so
that you do not break it.

    Hope this helps.

i just wanted to say i had the same problem with my main window switches
with my altima 98 and so i bought one at the junkyard for 50 dollars and a
month later the window wouldnt go down anymore and i couldn't get my money
back because junkyards sell as is. so it might be better to get it from
somewhere that offers a warranety like the dealership.
