If the wiper motor is overheating and has a thermal cutout, it stops and
restarts when it cools down.
Why it's overheating is the issue. Most common reason is that the wiper arm
pivots are seizing up with corrosion. Not hard to fix, but tedious to get
at. The motor is connected to the pivots by an arm that pops off a ball
joint. Disconnect this and see if the wiper arms move freely. If they don't,
you have to take the pivots out, disassemble them, clean off the corrosion
and reassemble with appropriate grease.

Sounds like a power droppage, i would check your circuit if you can, as
being fully electric only water getting in some where along the cicuit or a
power droppage some where diverting the power else where. A multi meter
would do the right thing for you

Check the earth connection on the motor itself, The motor is earthed via one
of the bolts that secure it .
Take the earth bolt out and clean it then clean the body/motor connection .
You wont have any problems after doing this.

Another reason for the motor to possibly be overheating is, does the car
still have the original TYPE wiper blades installed?
I have seen double, triple and sometimes even quad blades attached to
the wiper arms in the hope that the windshield will be cleaned better
when used. All these multi-blades do is overheat and burn out motors.
They don't actually work any better then a quality wiper blade.
