97 intrepid cutting out
I recently have been experiencing a "miss" in the engine. I changed the
ignition coil, checked plugs, and everthing looks fine. It only does it
when accelerating. My wife now tells me it is dying while in route. Any
sugestions as to what this is and how to fix it??

Re: 97 intrepid cutting out
Could be the cam sensor. or crank sensor happened to me once.

Re: 97 intrepid cutting out
it was the 3.3L I can't remember which sensor. it was either the crank or
cam sensor. It was under warranty at the time.

Re: 97 intrepid cutting out
It is the 3.5l. Does anyone know how hard it is to replace the sensors? It
doesn't get hot and it still idols fine it just won't drive.

Re: 97 intrepid cutting out
Dude,
Turn the ignition switch with key to ON - OFF - ON - OFF - ON with out
starting the engine. After doing so watch the check engine light, it will
start flashing. Count the flashes, if you get a blink, blink then a longer
pause then another blink that will be code 21. Code 55 is the last code to
say all is good. I had close to the same problem and changed the cam shaft
sensor first (easiest to get to) and it gave me the same problem so I then
changed the crankshaft sensor and haven't had the problem again. Good
Luck!!!

Re: 97 intrepid cutting out
More then likely the cam or crank sensor, relatively easy to replace both of
them and as a preventive maintenance thing i would replace them. That will
probably take care of the problem
