    96 T-Bird V8 EGR valve

Posting for friend who's having difficulty locating it. Says it appears to
be behind manifold( or obstructed by it ). Any tips for R & R, please.

    Re: 96 T-Bird V8 EGR valve

If the reason he wants to replace it is a "low EGR flow" diagnostic code,
it's probably not the valve itself. My '95 has several gismos to do what
the older car used a single EGR valve for. Most likely, the EGR passages in
the throttle to manifold fitting are clogged with gunk. You need to remove
the TB, then the elbow that goes to the intake manifold. The channels I'm
speaking of are between the gasket and the manifold. You can do a Google
search of this newsgroup using the computer code and get gobs of help and
    advise.

lie the other poster stated its probably the blockage behind the
throttle body to the manifold that is giving you trouble.. its a psssage
that goes behing the throttle body to the EGR valve in the int. manifold
that is clogged with carbon deposits/junk... go to www.contour.org
that is a ford contour group, but they will have a piece on cleaning the
passages and to put on a new throttle body gasket and a new gasket on
the EGR valve.. probably cost you $2.00 for the parts and use dental
picks or wire to clean out the passage and your problems will be over..
the Trouble code was i think.... P0401...... do a search for code 401 or
P0401 and see if it comes up just post there and ask about your veh.
and see if someone can find it for you... hope this helps.
