Dodge: 96 Intrepid headlights

96 Intrepid headlights
I have a 96 Intrepid with 155 K miles on it that I gave to my 16 year old
son recently. The headlights are very dim and he must use the brights
continually. They were adjusted by our mechanic but do not seem any
better. (And yes, he's a good mechanic).
Can they be changed out for something else? How about xenon lights? Any
suggestions?
Thanks.

The reason the lights are dim is most likely from the plastic lens cover
being discolored or cloudy. I found this link but have never tried it.
http://www.properautocare.com/plaslenclean.html You may be able to find a
similar product that might work. You can also try replacing the bulb with
those brighter lamps but I heard the don't last as long. I would try
polishing the lens first.

Re: 96 Intrepid headlights
those headlamps were piss poor designed from the get go, chrysler had so
many complaints when that vehicle was new they came out with a new design
headlamp , but im sure that the age of your vehicle they are probably faded
anyhow, replace em

Re: 96 Intrepid headlights
What replacement do you recommend? I'm having a similar problem with my
wife's caravan (same year). The lenses don't look particularly cloudy - the
lights just don't output enough.

Re: 96 Intrepid headlights
normally at that age, the lites are cloudy and causeing the problem, i
would only recommend installing the bulbs that came with the vehicle,
there is something out on the market that polishes the lens, i have not
used it myself but need to try something on my truck, i have the same
problem

One that I've seen work well is Flitz. http://www.flitz.com/index.html
I've got a 99 T&C van, and a 95 Ram 1500 that I'm going to be using it on in
the near future.
