Chrysler: 96 Caravan mystery noise

Anyone have any ideas on what the problem may be on the noted vehicle?
Whats happening is while driving, a grating type feeling is noticed through
the steeing wheel, accompanied by a type of clunking noise. The noise
apparently can't be heard by anyone else in the vehicle and yes, the
driver[s] can hear and feel it. ??????????????

During what mode of operation, accelerating, cruising, braking, turning?

Could be CV joint in the early stages of failure. Check if any of the
boots are cracked, or if there is grease slung round the adjacent
surfaces, like the inner side of the tire, inside the wheel well...
