95 LS400 repair or part out?
I've got a 95 Lexus LS400 sitting in my garage with about 103K miles
on it. The car was perfect until it was T-boned taking out the
passenger side doors. Both passenger side doors need to be replaced,
the door pillar between the front and back passenger side door needs
to be replaced as well as some body work to the rocker panel and a
small crinkle on the roof above the door pillar. Any idea as to how
much I could get parting out the car? Title is clean.

This is Turtle.
i go with a friend to the Wholesale Auto Auctions where insurance company sell
wrecked cars and stolen one to recoupe the lost. My friend will buy them and
rebuild them to sell to car dealer everywhere. About a month ago they had a 1997
LS-400 or 4xx something that '' sold '' for $5,400.00 . now it had the whole
driver side smashed in from the front to the back. Now not real bad but it would
have to be parts skinned all the way from the front to the back. The parts and
labor to restore it was about $3,500.00 which would give it a Green / Clean
title. I did not want it for i would have almost $9k in it and there is some
times a little cheaper or better deals.
So what i'm saying is to just send it to the Wholesale Auto Auction and it
should bring $3K++ easily. Every Major city and a lot of smaller citys have
these auctions and the public can put cars up on the block but has to pay
$200.00 and only if it sells. You can put a minmium price you will take for it
or just sell to the highest bid. you get 3 auction to run to meet your Min. you
state. Now the auction that I'm talking about is not open to the public and only
to Auto Restoring dealers. When you buy one, You bought it as is and it's your.
If it's sold there you get cash on the day of the sale and if the dealer does
not pay for it. You will never know it for they sue the dealer themselves. The
dealer has 15 minute to drive it and check it out after the sale to turn it
down. if not it belongs to him. Your not responicable for anything unless it is
a stolen car you put up. When you park it at their lots. You pull the plates,
insurance, and take everything out of it. It bring more if you don't let rain
get to the seats and floor carpeting.
In my area they have them in Louisiana at
New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Leesville, Monroe, and just
about everywhere in any state of the U.S.A. .
if you want to find one of these auction places call your insurance company and
ask for the Auction they use to dump cars and trucks at. they will tell you in
just a second.
So , What's you want for it and what state do you live in? My e-mail address is
good here.
And E-Bay sucks for getting a good price. Or you might try them out.

Re: 95 LS400 repair or part out?
I had very similar damagen to a Acura Legend and it cost about $7Kto repair.
I'd figure the salvage value would be about $4K. So the question is would
the car after repair would be worth $11K or more? My guess is that it would
be, but it would be close and you'd want hard numbers.
Parting a car is a lot of work. I'd just sell it to someone who does this
for a living.
