    95 Accent Mysterious problem

I bought a used 95 hyundai accent It has 104K on it.

The problem: It will just shut down when I press on the brake. It does
this frequently, but not every time.

The mechanic's computer says nothing is wrong. They tried installing a
new air uptake controller but this did not help. They claim they dont
know what to do unless the car breaks down at their shop (of course, it
    never does).

Anyone have suggestions? or a similar problem? Thank you for your time
    and consideration.

it's probably a near-dead battery and it couldn't take the energy of
turning on the brake lights and powering the brakes at once--if in your
words "shutting down" meant the engine just stalls.

Yes by "shut down" I do mean stall.

I also forgot to mention, the car will most always start up right away
    after the stall.

Thanks for your suggestion, I am looking into this. Has anyone else had
    this problem?

It could also be a vacuum problem; the brake booster servo
is vacuum-operated. Application of the brakes may be upsetting
    the mixture enough (leakage?).

I can't recall whether this car has an idle switch. If so, check the
throttle position sensor and throttle cable for proper adjustment. Also
check the idle actuator. They've been known to stick now and then.

Speed sensor will do that too. When I came to a stop sign, the car would
stall..was the speed sensor in my case.
    Hope this helps.. Steve
