Re: 93 pontiac Booneville
no, dont fool around. universaly the wipers and the ignition coil
leads will work with the key in on positon, just hook your stereo to
any fuse in the fuse box, stupid.

no need to be condecending...
Pull out the radio and hook up the positive wire to the switched 12+ wire,
should be yellow, might be red, black is ground, skip the cig lighter
altogether.

Re: 93 pontiac Booneville
Well, the cigar lighters should be relay controlled. I'm not sure about the
older Bonnies. If the car has RAP (retained accessory power), then the
radio, cigar lighter, power windows etc atomaticly shut off ten minutes
after ignition turned off, or when door is opened to exit vehicle.

Re: 93 pontiac Booneville
Yes.
Cut the non-switched (aka constant) power wire to the lighter and run a wire
to a switched power source at the fuse block. For a cleaner approach, splice
into the radio feed as mentioned previously.

Or, to preserve the higher current rating, install a relay in the line
to the cig lighter, and trip the relay with the radio power. Radio
power is usually fused lightly - like 3-5 amps vs lighter at 20 +/-
