Jeep: 93 Grand Cherokee starting problems (coil?)

93 Grand Cherokee starting problems (coil?)
OK, my friend, visiting from out of town, has a 93 grand Cherokee V8
that stopped working yesterday. They replaced the coil, plugs and
distributor (but not the wires) last month, but we figured anyway that
was the problem, so we just replaced the distributor, and wires today
still no luck. We're pretty sure the coil is still good (0 resistance,
right), but there is no spark at the coil. What else could it be? If you
need to know more, ask. Thanks in advance Aron

I'm assuming that it cranks over but refuses to start. If so then do
a Google search for CPS (or for Crank Position Sensor) and see if that
is any help.

Yes. Shortly after I posted this I found a bunch of stuff about all the
Jeeps that that thing has gone bad in. Presently we are trying to get to
that cursed little thing to test it. We can see it but cant quite reach
it yet. Thanks for the reply, Aron

The crank sensor probably... there is no indication of even an attempt
to start[no spark]. I had a 4L cherokee that had the same symptoms and
it wound up being a sensor, which I believe was a crank case sensor or
top dead center sensor ... called something like that.
