89 pathfinder... how do I change the rear brake lights?

I've changed the brake lights in probably 10 cars in my life. In the
pathfinder I just can't find a way to get the light out. There's
access from the interior panel, but my hand can't fit in that hole. I
unscrewed three screws in the lens, and it doesn't seem to want to
    come off either.

Can anyone help? I'm desperate and frustrated now.

with the screws removed, try pulling out the whole assembly.
I don't have a Pathy, by that's how it's done for my Xterra.

Should be able to change bulbs from access in rear of vehicle. Remove
access panel and should be able to get at them. If you need to remove light
assembly, there are three nuts inside rear by plugs that need removed.
Actually, only top two removed, lower loosened. At least that is how it is
    on my '94.
