Toyota: 89 Celica clutch adjustment

89 Celica clutch adjustment
Group;
I have a fluid leak on the hydraulic clutch on my son's 1989 Celica GT-S 5
speed. When it gets low on fluid, I add brake fluid. Then I open the
bleeder screw and out drips some fluid. Am I doing this correctly?

If you fill it before it gets empty, bleeding will not be necessary. If the
clutch has clearence after bleeding then you have done well.

you shouldn't need to open the bleeder screw unless you let the fluid
level get too low in the resevoir or the seals are so bad that some air
can get sucked by them. Pulling back the boots on the master and slave
cylinders will reveal which is leaking. I'd fix this before some sort of
"catastropic" failure leaves the clutch non-functional.

Jeb;
My son has gone thru 2 clutches with this car and the hydraulic unit. The
mechanic didn't fix the leak
I don't realize there is a problem until
the clutch is on the floor; I look in the reservoir and there is a black
"stopper" and no fluid. That is why I did a bleed. I guess I'm OK.

John;
I guess it's all OK. The car shifts again.
